What could be more perfect for your summer wardrobe than some big, new, graphic jewelry in laser cut acrylic and wood?
Some of you may know that I've been experimenting with laser cut acrylic and have been coming up with some fun new work. Well, I've also found a fabulous new friend who makes amazing work in laser cut wood and acrylic. I met Tia Keobounpheng of Silver Cocoon at the Walker Art Center's trunk show this spring (she also sells at the Walker Shop) and fell in love with her jewelry. Check out her blog and work in the photo on the right. I'm very happy to be hosting Tia for a trunk show, here in my studio.

Art-A-Whirl

Can you believe its already time for Art-a-Whirl again? This is surely the biggest, most fun event of the year in Northeast Minneapolis. Studios all over NE will be open, and the Northrup King Building will be full to capacity with all of its regular tenant artists and lots of guests. I will be hosting two artists: handbag designer Adrienne Grahn and printmaker Keiko Yagishita, and we will all have new work to show. Also, when you come to the NKB, don't forget to register to win $500 in Art Bucks. The winner can use their Art Bucks to purchase artwork from any participating artist(s).
Walker Art Center Trunk Show

Just in time for Mother's Day! Don't miss the Walker's jewelry trunk show this Saturday. It won't just be me but a whole group of local jewelry artists located upstairs in the Sky Room. This is the first event of its kind at the Walker, but if it goes well, they will do it again. Stop by and say hello!
Sample Sale

Its that time of the year again. Spring cleaning means its time for the spring sample sale! Adrienne Grahn (recently featured at Voltage, Fashion Amplified fashion show at First Avenue) and I are preparing for Art A Whirl by cleaning out old inventory to make way for new. Prices at or below wholesale, so come to my studio in the Northrup King and bring your friends!
Update: Items being discontinued include all Flower pieces and all remaining Rockets (except cufflinks). Get them while they're half price and still available!
First Thursday, Valentine's Day Sale

Its the annual Valentine's Day Sale: 20% off jewelry for your sweetie! And back by popular demand is tarot reader Sarah Gioia for complimentary short readings. She was such a big hit last year that I had to invite her back. Ask her what's in store for your love life, or anything else. I hope you can make it in from the cold for a visit!

Have you got holiday shopping to do? I'll be open this Thursday as usual and I'm also open for the NKB's extended holiday hours on Saturdays from noon to 5 pm through Saturday, December 15. On the last two Saturdays, December 8 and 15, Adrienne Grahn will be in my studio with her handbags for sale.
Also, for anyone in the Rochester, MN area, I will be doing a trunk show at the Rochester Art Center from noon to 5 on Sunday, December 9.

Art Attack this year is going to be fantastic. I have lots of new work to show and I will be hosting two artists: handbag designer Adrienne Grahn and printmaker Keiko Yagishita. You may have met Adrienne at a First Thursday before - she'll be back with new styles and old favorites. Keiko is also returning for an encore appearance. She was my guest at Art-a-Whirl a couple of years ago and her colorful graphic prints were so popular, people have been asking about her ever since.

Easter Egg Hunt

Celebrate the arrival of spring with an Easter Egg Hunt during First Thursday Open Studios at the Northrup King. I will be co-hosting this event with Krista Mina, who creates jewelry out of her beautiful handmade glass beads. We will be hiding eggs in many of the second floor studios - some with candy and a few have jewelry too. Feel free to pass on the invitation or to bring friends - it's free and open to anyone who wants to participate. But please note: you must start out at either Krista's studio (#264) or my studio (#288), so that you can register and pick up an information sheet with a list of participating studios. The hunt starts at 5pm, so come early to make sure you find an egg!

March is Women's History Month and to celebrate we're throwing a fundraising party for the Tubman Family Alliance, a local non-profit organization which aims to end domestic violence through a variety of support services as well as providing emergy shelter and transitional housing. We will be selling tickets for a prize drawing to win jewelry, a handmade bag, restaurant gift certificates and other goodies. Handbag designer Adrienne Grahn will be back with her fabulous bags to co-host the event. All proceeds from the tickets as well as 20% of the nights sales of handbags and jewelry will go to the Tubman Family Alliance. We hope you can make it!
Grand Hand Gallery Trunk Show
Opening February 9, 2007; 5 - 8 pm
The Grand Hand Gallery in St. Paul is hosting a special weekend event showcasing my work as well as jewelry by another Minnesota designer, Michael Knott. The Grand Hand represents artists in a wide variety of media, including clay, wood, glass, metal, fiber and jewelry, with an emphasis on artists from the Upper Midwest. The trunk show runs from February 9 - 11.
