Valentine's Sale (during First Thursday Open Studios)

THURSDAY, FEBRUARY 2; 5 - 9 PM

It's the annual Valentine's Day Sale featuring 20% off all jewelry either purchased or ordered that night (except for custom designs). In addition to the discount, I will be featuring a couple of limited edition sterling pieces, just for Valentine's Day - I'll be posting photos on Facebook a day or two before the show, so keep an eye out!

I will be hosting the totally fabulous designs of Post~ handbags and accessories. In addition to their very popular P3 pouches, they will debut their new "Peace & Love" collection at this show, which will feature gold metallic silkscreened hearts on leather. I cannot wait to see them! You can also keep up to date on Post~ by checking out their Facebook page.

This year I'm also hosting psychic medium Chanda Parkinson, who will be giving complimentary short readings from 6 - 8pm. She can answer questions about love, in keeping with the Valentine's Day theme, or feel free to ask her other questions as well. It will be first come, first served, so you may want to arrive early if you want to get a reading.

It's autumn again and that means Art Attack! I've got some terrific guest artists for you to enjoy! I'll be hosting painter Berry Holz again (she is well loved!) and she'll have new work to show. And for her first time showing in my studio will be photographer Jes Lee, who will have lots of new images, with prints and cards for sale. If you aren't familiar with Jes, she likes to "layer photographs and compose them into imaginary places" - the effect is very cool. Check out her current work. As for me, I have a whole brand spanking new wedding line to show off. This photo is a little preview!

And don't forget that First Thursday falls right before Art Attack, so we will also be open Thursday, November 3, from 5 - 9 pm.  Come see what's new!

All You Need is Love

All you need is love - and a little help from some fabulous local wedding vendors – to plan a perfect celebration! Join me, Jennifer Simonson Photography and Amelia Flower and Garden Shoppe for an afternoon of fun and inspiration during our boutique wedding open house.

All three of us will showcase new work, plus we'll serve sweet treats and have a drawing for some great giveaways. Our event is small and personal; we want to meet and talk to each and every one of you about your wedding. We'll answer questions and provide suggestions based on our professional experiences. Each of us approaches every wedding with care and creativity. We value our clients and work hard to provide them with personalized services.

I will unveil a new collection of wedding rings. Christina, from Amelia's, will display gorgeous cut flowers, including bridal bouquets and tabletop arrangements and Jen will have all kinds of photographs on hand to show you how she can beautifully document one of the most memorable days of your life.

Art-A-Whirl

Spring is coming (really...it actually is) and Art-A-Whirl is just around the corner! This event gets bigger and better every year and fills not just the Northrup King Building but much of Northeast Minneapolis with amazing art, opening and events. In my studio, I will again be hosting painter Berry Holz, a regular favorite. And a new friend will be joining us as well - guest artist Jeralyn Mohr. Come visit us and see the new pieces we've been working on!

Need another reason to come out for Art-A-Whirl? I'm partnering with the Smack Shack, famous for their amazing and addictive lobster rolls, to give away two tickets to their Art-A-Whirl Lobster Boil. This is going to be the biggest and best sample sale yet. I'm well stocked with discontinued items, samples, slightly irregular items (including quite a few leather bracelets cut just a teensy bit too close to the edge), and much, much more. As always, everything on sale is at a super discounts - most items are 50% off.

So stop by and check out all of our work. This year I'm doing the sale over the course of two days for anyone who can't make it on Saturday.

One warning though - the last couple of sample sales had a line out the door at noon, so if you want the best choice, get here early!

Maiden Minnesota

Maiden Minnesota also helps support and raise awareness for Free Arts Minnesota, a local non-profit organization dedicated to bringing the healing powers of art and mentorship into the lives of abused, neglected and at-risk children and their families.

Ticketsare $20 in advanceor $30 at the door. $5 from each ticket goes directly to Free Arts Minnesota.

The Grand Hand Gallery will be hosting a trunk show the weekend before Valentine's Day. I will be featured along with fabulous local jewelry designer Emily Johnson. We will both be showing new work, so come have a look! The Grand Hand is one of the premier craft galleries in the midwest and carries artists from around the United States, with a particular focus on local artists. Its the annual Valentine's Day Sale! And back by popular demand is tarot reader Sarah Gioia for complimentary short readings. She was such a big hit last year that I had to invite her back. "Shop": A trunk sale at the Rochester Art Center

I'll be at the Rochester Art Center for this terrific event featuring a number of Minnesota artists who work in ceramics, jewelry, fiber and wood. Last year's event was great (despite some really bad weather) - so I predict that this year's will be even better.

Don't miss Art Attack this year - its going to be a great event! I'll be hosting two artists in my studio; handbag designer Adrienne Grahn and jewelry designer Tia Keobounpheng. We'll have a terrific selection of items in a wide range of prices that are perfect for holiday gift giving so you can get an early start on your shopping. Also note that if you can't make it Friday, Saturday or Sunday, we are also open for First Thursday on November 6, from 5 - 9PM, and most artists will be set up and open that night as well.

I am very excited to announce that I will be unveiling a brand new collection at Art Attack and I can't wait to show it off! Come and see what I've been working on all summer.

Sample Sale

It has become a biannual event...the Sample Sale. The perfect chance to clear away the old and make way for the new before Art Attack (which will be November 7 - 9). Adrienne and I will, as always, have some leftovers, discontinued items and slightly-off items among our bargains. What's new for this sale? As many of you may know, I've been experimenting with laser-cut plastic. And experimentation means plenty of styles that don't end up in production. You'll find lots of fun acrylic pieces in the $5 - $20 range. As always, the sale will be at my studio, so come early and bring your friends!

Fall Flair Runway Show

saturday, Sept 20 @ La Bodega Tapas Bar

This fabulous runway event will feature the fall collections of fashion designers Arwyn Birch, Amanda Christine and Emily Weich, handbag designer Adrienne Grahn and jewelry designers Karin Jacobson and Tia Keobounpheng. You can expect lots of lace and tulle in Emily's formal, fall collection of dresses and skirts. As always Arwyn will deliver comfortable, classic silouhettes combined with stylish fabrics. Amanda Christine's designs are full of soft knits and draped wovens. Accessorizing the event will be purses by Adrienne; expect crocodile, ostrich and cow hide incorporated into these new fall bags. Karin will be introducing her new line of plastic jewelry full of bright 80's colors and big graphic designs. Tia's designs incorporate laser cut acrylic and wood and have a modern Scandinavian style. Wine specials and tapas available all night.

What could be more perfect for your summer wardrobe than some big, new, graphic jewelry in laser cut acrylic and wood?

Some of you may know that I've been experimenting with laser cut acrylic and have been coming up with some fun new work. Well, I've also found a fabulous new friend who makes amazing work in laser cut wood and acrylic. I met Tia Keobounpheng of Silver Cocoon at the Walker Art Center's trunk show this spring (she also sells at the Walker Shop) and fell in love with her jewelry. Check out her blog and work in the photo on the right. I'm very happy to be hosting Tia for a trunk show, here in my studio.

Art-A-Whirl

Can you believe its already time for Art-a-Whirl again? This is surely the biggest, most fun event of the year in Northeast Minneapolis. Studios all over NE will be open, and the Northrup King Building will be full to capacity with all of its regular tenant artists and lots of guests. I will be hosting two artists: handbag designer Adrienne Grahn and printmaker Keiko Yagishita, and we will all have new work to show. Also, when you come to the NKB, don't forget to register to win $500 in Art Bucks. The winner can use their Art Bucks to purchase artwork from any participating artist(s).

Walker Art Center Trunk Show

Just in time for Mother's Day! Don't miss the Walker's jewelry trunk show this Saturday. It won't just be me but a whole group of local jewelry artists located upstairs in the Sky Room. This is the first event of its kind at the Walker, but if it goes well, they will do it again. Stop by and say hello!

Its that time of the year again. Spring cleaning means its time for the spring sample sale! Adrienne Grahn (recently featured at Voltage, Fashion Amplified fashion show at First Avenue) and I are preparing for Art A Whirl by cleaning out old inventory to make way for new. Prices at or below wholesale, so come to my studio in the Northrup King and bring your friends!
